A batata-doce, originária da América Central e do Sul, constitui, desde há milénios, parte dieta alimentar dos seres humanos. nível nacional, a procura de batata-doce tem vindo aumentar, pois o consumidor valoriza as suas características organoléticas nutricionais, ao que produção correspondido, tendo em conta condições edafoclimáticas favoráveis à cultura. Neste artigo referem-se alguns dados sobre cultura desta espécie seu interesse alimentar.
